Lynann Escatel

Pilates Teacher

Lynann grew up in Mesa, AZ and began dancing at the age of 4. At a young age Lynann met Julie Renn and began studying with her at “Julie’s Jazz Pizzazz.” Her stage presence and dance technique have taken her to competitions around the world from her home base of Arizona all through the United States, to Italy TV Specials. Dancing under the direction of Julie Renn, her dance troupe of four won the Ed McMahon “1990 Star Search” Dance category as “Personality Plus.” Lynann began to assist Julie in choreography while in high school. While performing and assisting in the production of “Work That Skirt” Lynann worked with James Harkness, beginning both a great friendship and a lasting partnership. Since then, James and Lynann have worked on many music videos (Crazy, Brain Kent), choreographed many musicals (Aida, The Wiz), and have taught numerous classes.  James encouraged Lynann to come to NY to pursue her love, passion, and career: dance! While studying and performing, Lynann first heard about Pilates as a body conditioning program that would allow her to rehabilitate her many different injuries related to dance. After years of dancing she decided it was time to start thinking more about her body so that she could continue to dance. Through much research of the authentic Pilates method that Joseph and Clara Pilates created and passed to Romana Kryzanowska, she welcomed the opportunity to be trained at True Pilates New York. She continues to further her education and skills with Sari Mejia Santo, Kathi Ross-Nash, Cynthia Shipley, Jerome Weinberg and the instructors of True Pilates. Pilates has allowed her to continue to dance in the performing arts, while helping others to find their own personal body conditioning program. She currently teaches at Pilates on 66 on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
